History:
Purchase: I have been looking for a long time to acquire a classical guitar. Playing each brand and model in every store I would pass.
Prices were not the concern, quality and tone were, as well as ease of play. And lets be real, it should look nice also.
I never thought I would find this instrument in a family music store.
But I did. It was the Takamine model EG-124C. And it was the right price. Although, I could have gotten it for less online, you really have to play these things.
What I Like About This Unit: I have played much ore expensive guitars and not find satisfaction.
This guitar has a solid top producing excellent open viocing tones as well as up the neck in all registers. It also came equiped with electronis including a 3 band EQ.
It feels, sounds and looks great.
And I could afford it.
What I Do NOT Like About The Takamine EG-124C: Ok, I could have been critical- but why, I really like the instrument.
I really love ebony fretboards, this does not have one. And that would have added cost.
I really like tortiose shell binding, this is straaight black...boo hoo.
I also like gold tuners, these are nickel.
So if you care more about what your axe looks like that how it sounds...dont buy this one.
EG-124C Quality: This guitar is a Taiwon import, so what could you expect.
You would be wrong.
Every aspect of its construction looks like a fine hand made instrument.
Although there is a slight finish inconsistancy where the fretboard rests on the body, it is slight at that, and not a noticable defect visually or audibly.
Summary: I wish I were rich, and could buy a fine hand made instrument- but I am not.
Also, I wish I were Segovia- I am not.
But I do appreciate tone and playability- as well as quality and value. This is the guitar I bought.
If you are a student, looking for a really nice instrument- this si my reccomendation.
