Purchase: I bought my marshall over ebay for $299.95 plus shipping, so all in all a little under $350. I bought an avt because I had read good things about them, and i chose the 50 watter because that was about all I needed, for very small private gigs and practice. Pros: I absolutely love everything:
First off, its loud, you can easily jam, practice, or gig with this unit, 50 watts of hybrid power give you way more than even 80 or so, in my opinion, of solid state. also, the overdrive has very good tone for a hybrid, it has one tube in the preamp, so it sounds bright, clean and focused, and the power section behaves like a tube amp, so you get good compression, sustain, and you can really get into music, even with a cheaper guitar. i play on only a regular old schector omen 6 with standard pickups, and it sounds great. the avt50's only effect is reverb, and its very nice, although i dont play reverb a lot, it works well. the clean channel is very spectacular. i love the bright, warm sound that rivals full tube units. i also liked the price i paid for it. i also dig the independant channels, each with their own, gain and volume and such. Cons: sometimes the distortion can get a little fuzzy, you have to turn down the gain a hair to get a better sound. im thinking of putting a different tube in, one thats engineered with lower noise. but dont let that discourage you, its a nice amp worth the money. Quality: this amp is built nicely, its quality marshall, its good, but the trade off is weight. its on the heavier side at about 50 lbs. Summary: very nice, loud, bursting with tone and warmth. perfect for small gigs and practice. plus with a 12" celestion, you get good lows. get an amp with good overdrive already in it, dont use sissy crappy sounding pedals to get distortion. Purchase: Last week - £330 Pros: The sound is clean and crisp - the best amp I have used Cons: It is very heavy for its size and not easy to transport - but thats a small price to pay for such a great amp Quality: Heavy
Compact
Excellent quality Summary: I was reluctant to pay the amount but has since proved a wise investment On 2002-09-24, Kevhog gave this Marshall Guitar Amplifier a 5
Purchase: I was trying out Crate GX212's and saw this amp sitting over in the Marshall pile. I wasn't gonna spend $475.00 on an amp, but after I heard it, I had to have it. The manager at the Guitar center gave it to me for $475.00 out the door.
Pros: The amp has a great clean tone, even has it's own gain adjustment for each channel. The overdrive channel works good for my level of playing, and actually makes pretty decent distortion. I don't use a pedal with this amp. You must use a higher volume to get a good gain sound out of it, and it's loud. Really loud. I had it up to 4 the other day, and it was too loud for my apartment. Cons: Nothing really to not like about it. It definitely has a "Marshall" tone to it, so some people might not like it. (definitely play it a closed room where you can turn it up) It might be nice to have a switch on it somewhere to cut the wattage in half, this amp is loud! Quality: Excellent. Ruggedly built, and will probably last forever. Oh yeah, it's heavy, too. Summary: Overall a pretty good amp. Not as good as a Soldano, or Mesa, in the gain department, but for under $500.00, it's worth it. If you go play one, you have to turn it up past 3, you'll really enjoy it. Purchase: I got this Marshall AVT50 at a Hollywood Guitar Center and I paid $507.00 with tax. Pros: I liked the volume it is very loud. It has the great Marshall reverb that I also love. The distortion was the main feature. It was on of the best ones i heard; although a little (little) bit fuzzy, but when you start playing you cant hear anything but great Marshall distortion. Cons: Well.... I said the main feature was the distortion and it was. The clean was to rough and it was a bit shaky. the bass was to big too. If you lowered it you got a ok sond but its not the clean Marshall is known for. Other than the clean was a to me 1-10 a 6.8 its a great amp. Quality: Built like a tank. Almost unbreakable. When i touched it i knew it was strong. It hard and Big. WELL made. (like every Marshall) Summary: Good for house use. It was a great amp, but the clean kind of killed it. It is not a Marshall TSL clean but its a clean. think you should go try it out. On 2002-06-22, deejmic gave this Marshall Guitar Amplifier a 5

I had been trying out various amps, came across this one and loved it. It sound sweet. Pros: Excellent tonal control. Very loud when driven. Holds it own against tube amps. Just got back from a gig and played it right next to a Mesa Boogie Nomad 55. I like the sound of the Marshall better. Cons: Wish it had an extra speaker out to hook up an extension cab while using the internal speaker as well. Quality: Heavy duty construction. Could drop it from an airplane and it would stay intact. Summary: If your gigging in smaller places or practicing in a basement or garage or studio. This is the amp for you. Dont let the tube snobs tell you what sounds good. See for yourself. Compare this next to an all tube amp and close your eyes.... good luck telling the difference. This amp straight out kicks ass.
