History:
Purchase: I bought my 1993Ibanez SR2005 used on Ebay. This one was made in Japan I owned an Ibanez SR400 at that time and was very pleased with the quality and overall feel of the bass. What caused me to hunt for another Ibanez was the neck. Talk about smooth. I was ready to switch to a 5-string and was afraid of ending up with a "log". I also wanted more from the electronics than the SR400 provided.
What I Like About This Ibanez SR2005 (5 String): My SR2005 is a deep wine color with an exotic darkwood fret board mounted on 5 piece laminated neck which runs through the body. All hardware is gold-plated. The electronic support 2 AFR-5 "J" style pickups. Talk about a wide variety of sounds! The SR2005 is fantastic. Real tight neck for a 5 string.
What I Do NOT Like About The Ibanez SR2005 (5 String): It may be because the bass is older and needs some tuning up in the electronics, but I have noticed it is easy to loose a certain sound by barely touching the knobs. Probably because it offers such a wide variety of sounds.
Ibanez SR2005 (5 String) Quality Rating: Top quality construction. No regrets on my behalf.
Review Summary: This bass was top of the line in 1993 and sold for about $2000. It is now worth between $700 and $1000. The guy selling it didn't realize what he had and I was able to get it for about $450. Needless to say, I am very pleased with the bass as well as the price.
