History:
Purchase: Bought from Musician's Friend for $19.99. I was a drummer in a band who played guitar in out-of-studio rehearsals and wanted to explore going between experimental slide noise and regular riffing and chording.
What I Like About This Shubb Axys Slide: Well, it *does* allow you to push the slide out of the way when you don't need it...
What I Do NOT Like About The Shubb Axys Slide: ...the problem is, it can't do it very well. The large ring base hinders your first two finger joints, so the finger you use the slide on will still be largely disabled. I've been able to form some dyads and triads with the Axys in off position, but that's about it. And the slide sound I do get with the Axys is horrible. This slide just doesn't resonate with the string and goes dull very easily.
Shubb Axys Slide Quality Rating: The brass arrived looking old, and the spinning joint seems flimsy.
Review Summary: The idea was definitely better than the execution on this product. From my experience with the Axys, the JetSlide (www.jetslide.com) seems like it would do a better job , though I've never tried it.
