Purchase: I got this unit (the zoom 707 multi effect pedal) at guitar works In Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It was a steal of a deal because I stole it. Ha! Just kidding, I paid $200 Canadian for it.
Pros: This unit is perfect for begginers and any guitar player out there that wants a bunch of effects for a not so heavy price. Most of the effects sound very good especially the bazillion types of distortion avaliable. (Hyperbole, or is it? Dun dun dun). More effects include a flanger, weird talking thing, a cool funk effect, jazz effects, metal effects, (Good ones too), distortion effects, 12 string effect, distortion, Amp modeling, distortion, fuzz and crunch effects, distortion, light distortion, and heavy distortion. I think theres 70 effects in total and 70 more for you to program in. I've always been to happy to use their pre-programmed ones! You can modify each effect with three turn knobs. The unit also includes a rhythm... drum...thing. You can select from a lot of beats to jam to. Pretty cool and a lot of fun when you have no drummer! It also includes the ability to record 7 seconds worth of playing. A whole 7 seconds! What can you do with that seven seconds? I'll leave that up to you. You could always record stairway to heaven in 100 or so pieces. The unit is very small and portable, and has a built in expression pedal. It has a head phone jack, for wussies or "concerning" players that are afraid to wake the neighbours!! Also the pedal is supposed to have the ability to be able to "Scratch" (like the DJ sort of scratching) with the pedal. I'll be grateful if I ever figure out how to do it. It can take 8 double A batteries, or you can plug an wall adapter into it so it dosn't chew up your batteries like a woodchuck chucks wood. I don't understand what I just wrote either.
Cons: The expression pedal moves less then a garden snail. A slow garden snail. With no legs. Its made of cheap feeling plastic, so if your planning to stomp the pedals or whatnot, wear proper foot protection, plastic splinters hurt. So far I havn't had a problem with its durability. Some of it is confusing, for guys like me that burn manuals on site!! You need the manual to figure out some things, some of the 707's majestic powers are still unknownst to me. And i've had it for years.
Quality: The plastic is cheap, feels like one of those plastic cups the clear bendy ones. Just kidding its not that cheap! I havn't broke mine yet so it's been holding up for 2 years or so. The bottom panel is metal so I have a feeling it will last for another few years before it falls apart on me.

Summary: Bassicly all summarized theres a lot to like aobut the 707 and even more wicked distortion. If your looking for cheap sounding good effects, its definatly one to look at. Music gear review rocks the house!!! Can I have my free recording studio now =0)??

Purchase: i brought this pedel at my local music shop for just over £100
Pros: some good effects, especially the "funk" effect which can sound really good when playing some faster ska typed riffs. good range of distortion
Cons: the lack of clean guitar effects, i found it hard to find an effect with out some kind of distortion, also when changing effects there is an annoying click or a pause which really effects when playing live.
Quality: built pretty strongly, well set out

Summary: its ok, good fun
