Purchase: well for my 16th bday i got some cash and put it towards a new guitar... the ibanez rg7420. this is the same model as dino cazarez uses from fear factory, and head and munky of korn. it really is an amazing guitar. i had only played 6 strings, so at first the wider neck was a lil akward, that changed quick though with practice. the pickups are powerful, neck is really slim, body is pretty light, and the black pearl finish is really sweet. i got it for 600 (new) with the uv1000 case at a local shop, alto music in middletown, ny. www.altomusic.com
Pros: the neck is slim and fast making the transition from a 6 to 7 real easy.
Cons: the ONLY thing i dont like is the bridge. its a licenced floyd rose. when changing strings, you have to cut off the ball on the string and secure the string by a lil block in the bridge. strings can come out if you dont tighten it enough, but you dont want to strip the screw. you just have to bea real causcious, and have more time to fool with it.
Quality: the body is made of basswood, so its pretty light and its real nice to hold. its real sturdy and makes you feel powerful.
Summary: ibanez: the greatest 7 string maker today! get one!
