Jay Turser 135-CS Review

Jay Turser Electric Guitars

History:

Purchase: Bought it new on ebay for around $180 over a year ago from an authorized dealer in PA.

What I Like About This Unit: Chrome hardware. The pickups sound good. Nice range in the tones and very versatile for the at-home jammer. I play it through a Q95 wah (great pedal) and an old school Ibenez 5 pedal effects board (great tubescreamer and compression.) The guitar handles all my intermediate needs for a very realistic price.

What I Do NOT Like About The Jay Turser 135-CS: I had to adjust the tension rod and bridge because of some buzzing on the 6th string at the 20 fret, the buzzing cleared. Also found that there was an extreme bend around the frets on the 3 string when. Changing the strings and adjusting the bridge helped that however it hasn't totally gone away yet. A couple of the interior nuts on the pots are loose and being a semi-hollow makes it difficult to tighten at home. Also I think the light plastic used for the nut, trim, and pickguard are particularly cheap andI don't have much faith that the nut would hold up for too long, althoughI haven't had any problems yet.

135-CS Quality: The guitar is strong and sturdy yet not too heavy. The stock electronics prodiuce a nice mellow tone and after more than a year of easy use everything is holding up. The tuners remain smooth and the laminate looks great. Also I think the light plastic used for the nut, trim, and pickguard are particularly cheap andI don't have much faith that the nut would hold up for too long, althoughI haven't had any problems yet.

Summary: From what I've seen and heard the whole line of Jay Turser offers great quality for the price, which equals value. You may though, need to adjust the string set up and find a size that works best for you.
