Peavey Review: Transtube 110 EFX

Peavey Guitar Amplifiers

History:

Purchase: Who say's you can't teach an old dog new tricks? It's been 40 years since I was rockin with the Beach Boys, Dick Dale and The Ventures back in my high school days. Since selling the old Fender Strat and Princton years ago, I've been smoozin with the Cum-by-Yaa crowd. Campfires and sing-a-longs. A few weeks back I went to visit my son and he pulled out his electric whiz-bang setup. It was day-ja-voo all over again, except with more, MUCH MORE! I started my quest the next day. I hit every music store withing the area, and played on every amp that I could buy for under $500. After putting down a lot of shoe leather I went into Charlie Daniels Music in Fresno, Ca. My search was over and for a mere $350 out the door, plus the price of a rice-box Les Paul I was Rockin again!

What I Like About This Peavey Transtube 110 EFX: This little beauty out performed every other amp in it's class. The Vintage sound with the Transtube circuits made this old electronic technician take notice. I was very concerned that the electronic reverb would not please me, but I was wrong. It has all the depth that my old Fender had. The Digital effects are nothing less than amazing and by far the simplist to use of all the amps I looked at. I really like the Rotary Speaker, sounds like the old Leslie. As for volume, it has more than plenty for the small time get-licker and I wouldn't be surprised to see it drive a large pair of air movers. All this in a package that grandma can pick up and vacumn under.

What I Do NOT Like About The Peavey Transtube 110 EFX: I havn't found anything that I don't like about this amp. It would be nice to have another input to use for a mic, but what the hey, no need messing up a hot lick with my singin anyway.

Peavey Transtube 110 EFX Quality Rating: I havn't pulled this thing apart yet, but the layout of the controls is optimal. The physical construction seems to be very good, with a nice leather handle and a good heavy mar proof covering over the wood.

Review Summary: I highly recommend this amp for the guitarist that just wants to groove around the house or at small gathering. It really does sound great and is easy on the pocket book. Rock on baby.
