History:
Purchase: Purchased through ebay for $58.00
Pros: Great for a starter acoustic guitar. Not too many parents (like us) want to invest in an expensive guitar for a preteen who wants to try guitar lessons. Rental is silly in this case!
Cons: There is a small chip in the unit that does not affect the play.
Size is a little large for my child (12 y.o.).
Steel String Guitar Quality: Construction seems fair, although just about what I expected for the price. Esteban Summary: Really, a hard shelled bag, two instruction videos, a CD, pics, straps, and the tuner would cost at least $75.00 at my local music store, not counting the guitar. If you can get this one for less than $75.00, I'd suggest it's not a bad deal at all. If I get 6 months to a year of use out of it, I'll be happy.
I asked my child's (professional musician) guitar teacher if it was worth the price. He thought it looked just fine for a beginner, and even thought it looked as good as his own $400. guitar. He tuned it and it kept its tune quite nicely throughout the lesson (45 mins.).
