Peavey Review: Millenium BXP 5-String Tiger Eye

History:

Purchase: I acquired this bass from AMS for $199 plus s/h. I'm a guitar player, but I needed a bass to keep around for whenever the need arises.

What I Like About This Peavey Millenium BXP 5-String Tiger Eye: well, seeing as I was only going to spend a few hundred on the bass, I had to make sure that it was going to be all it could for the money. I did quite a bit of searching, playing, and asking around to find which bass was arguably the best for the price range. It ended up being between a Squier jazz bass and the Peavey millenium bxp. So I went to the music stores and checked out both models extensively. Both played great, looked great (no major flaws at all), and sounded great for the money. What sold me, though, was the paint job on the peavey. I love the tiger eye! You don't find many bassses with decent quilt tops for this price.

What I Do NOT Like About The Peavey Millenium BXP 5-String Tiger Eye: The action was a bit too low for me, but that was easily changed. There's nothing I don't like about the unit, except for the stickers they put on the back of the neck. Do you really need a "CE" sticker on the back of the neck? (i say this because they weren't easy to pull off without leaving residue) That's all though. Everything else was great!

Peavey Millenium BXP 5-String Tiger Eye Quality Rating: Construction was almost flawless. The only thing I noticed was that the fretboard was slightly irregular on the low-B side of the 21st fret. (am I being anal or what?). Otherwise the construction is perfect! The frets are well-dressed, and not protruding out of the sides of the neck. The string-thru-body setup really helps out on the sustain (a plus over the squier).

Review Summary: Wow. this bass really suprised me. It's amazing what you can find these days for a few hundred bucks. If you're looking for a great bass, whether you're a beginner or not, definitely check this one out. You can get this bass and a decent rig for the same price as many of the other basses out there. It's got a great sound for rock, jazz, metal, and other styles.
