History:
Purchase: I purchased this at L&M Music in Chattanooga, TN. I had heard alot of people bragging about the new stuff Dean was putting out. I ask the sales associate about what he thought about the new Dean Basses. He said for the price, you can't beat the quality. I played the Edge 5 string and the Rhapsody 5 string. After much deliberation I decided on the Rhapsody. The sales associate said that their bas tech has a $1500 bass and he has a Dean as a second bass. I can understand why.
Pros: Pretty much everything. The body has curves like a beautiful woman. The sound is wonderful. The tone is perfect. And it is a powerful slap bass.
Cons: If I could change anything on this bass it would be the pickups and the Bridge. It comes with EMG-HZ pickups which are passive. I would put a set of Bartolini active pickups in it. And I would change the bridge to a four way bridge Other than that the bass is Gravy.
Rhapsody Q5 Quality: Construction is top notch. The neck is perfect. Body is solid. And like I said before It has curves like a beautiful woman. Dean Summary: Fantastic bass. If you want a good playing bass, whithout speding alot of cash this bass is superb. In fact I'm pondering on buying another Dean fretless later on in the year.
