Schecter Diamond Series S-1 Elite Review

History:

Purchase: I got a $100 gift certificate for Xmas to our local Guitar Center. I wasn't planning on buying a guitar--I needed some strings, couple guitar stands, maybe a mike--you know, boring stuff. While I was there, I started checking out the guitars and made the "mistake" of playing the Schecter. I kept going back to it--the warm tone, the playability, and the fact it was so light compared to other guitars I played, just called to me--it was like it was asking to come home with me. I put it on layaway and 3 months later (and $625 less) I was playing this beautiful guitar on my Marshall MG 30DFX amp. WORTH EVERY FREAKIN' PENNY.

Pros: The 2 humbuckers make for a warm, smooth tone that nonetheless can put out crunch with authority. The music I play ranges from Neil Young to Alice in Chains, and everything sounds good on this guitar! Even my scales have improved ;-) . I was mainly drawn to the guitar because of the unusual method of stringing the thing--my previous electric guitar has a Floyd Rose bridge that was very time-consuming and annoying to tune, not to mention re-stringing. This looks like it'll be a snap to restring. It was also easily the prettiest guitar in the store, with abalone inlay all around the edge, the mother-of-pearl crosses in the neck, the gorgeous 'translucent black cherry' finish, and pewter chrome hardware.

Cons: The only thing I don't like about my guitar is the fact I don't have enough time to play it.

Diamond Series S-1 Elite Quality: I'm not a very experienced guitar player, but comparison with other guitars made me think this is a quality instrument. There's no crooked seams, the finish is gorgeous, nothing's out of place, the neck is perfect, etc. etc. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the quality of the strings; the guitar had been hanging for awhile and they had lost their brightness. But I'm planning on replacing them with Elixirs pretty soon, so this is irrelevant.

Schecter Summary: I would recommend this guitar to anyone who's looking for a guitar that sounds as good as it looks. How come there aren't any other reviews about this guitar?
