Purchase: I purchased this bass in Montreal at Archambault. I played bass a few times way back when, but now I wanted to pick it up again and learn to play it well. So I wanted to start with a good entry-level bass. The store had a few basses in the 300$ range: Yamahas, Peaveys, Squiers and another one which was so crappy I didn't even bother to remember the name! I tried them all and the Yamaha was the one I was the most comfortable with. Pros: The RBX-270 I purchased is a mist green and has a real cool look. Plus, even from a beginners point of view, I though it was really easy to play. I've been practicing a lot on it, and it is really easy to get comfortable with this bass. Plus, I like to possibility of "mixing" between the two pickups, which gives it some good tonal range. And the bass is light on the shoulders. Cons: I had to go back to the store the day after I bought it because of wiring problems. The guys over there fixed it on the spot. Plus the bass was not perfectly adjusted when I left the store. The strings were too close to the frets, which cause a lot of buzz. I adjusted it myself (Yamaha gives you an Allan key with the bass). Quality: So far, everything seems O.K. The instrument looks solid and sharp. The wiring worries me, though, probably because of the incident I had when I bought it. I guess I shouln't worry anymore. Summary: Although more advanced players will probably frown upon such a "modest" bass, I feel it's a very good instrument for the money, and a bass that I won't have to wrestle with in my learning process. If you want to start playing the bass, don't ruin yourself on a high-end instrument. Go for a Yamaha and you will have a lot of fun.

Purchase: I bought this Guitar New From St. Johns Music (in Calgary, Alberta, Canada) for 349.00 and got an amp as well. Pros: First off the colour is WOW! i got the red metallic and its amazing. I really like the P/J pickups makes the guitar sound really full! I find it really easy to thumb it and pop it and it never gets out of tune. ive droped it a few 2 many times but it still looks and plays magnificently. The three nobs make it nice aswell. My friend thinks its a 600$ guitar. and it plays that way Too! Cons: Nothin att all its just i think they could of put chrome nobs on instead of plastic (Come on its plastic why somehting so bad like plastic be on a super nice guitar). Quality: Super Durible i dropped my friends Fender P Bass and it broke! (Yikess! luckly he had a warentee lol) and to gett back at me he droped mine. after it hit it was Perfect condition STILL!!! Summary: Really awesome guitar i probably still would of bought it even if it was 600$ thats how nice it is! Rock on with this guitar and just play

Purchase: I bought it in a music store in Barcelona and I paid over 250 euros for it. The man in the store said me that japanese/taiwan was better construction than korean and the yamaha basses had great wood and great price/quality relation. Pros: Its a very playable bass, quite light and has a great sound. I also love its myst green color, is great. Cons: What can I say, for a beginner as me is a great bass. Probably the worst thing is that it is not a musicman stingray. Quality: Its a hard & solid bass and I've never had a problem with it. Summary: Maybe I'am not an expert in basses and I know that RBX-270 isn't a professional bass (that's why I don't rate it 5/5) but if you are going to start with bass, this bass is a great one. Quality, Sound and Constuction incredibly good for this low price.

Purchase: I picked this bass up at a local music store (Archambault, in Montreal) with the money I got for Christmas, I got an amazing deal on it for Boxing day, it was marked down from 480 to 320 Canadian Dollars. For the price, this has got to be one of the nicest basses around. Pros: I like the overall design of the guitar, the body is nice and small, but not too small. The neck is perfect for my playing style, the string action is so close, and the tone is amazing. Thisbass comes with a P/J pickup como, lace sensor style...They sound awesome. There are 3 POTs, 1 volume, 1 Tone and a fader for between the 2 pickups. This bass is light! I play a Fender P-Bass and this has got to be 1/2 the weight, doesn't kill the shoulder. The input jack is excellent, it's not the type that screws in so you don't have to worry about it loosening and falling out. It grips the plug in real tight to ensure it doesn't come out (Side mount) when you're on stage, and by the way it looks awesome when you're playing it. Cons: There's not much I don't like about this bass...But I don't quite like the plastic knobs on the pots, but those can be exchanged for some nice solid chrome knobs for a few bucks. Another dislike is the design of the headstock, nothing major but it just looks a little too short. Quality: The body is solid Alder, Rosewood Fingerboard, I beleive the neck is maple, not quite sure. The hardware is chrome and so is the bridge. The pickups are lace style. The finish is nice and even, mine has a metallic red finish, looks real nice. Summary: This bass looks like it's worth 700 dollars but it's so affordable and sounds excellent. I'd reccomend this for a first, second or even third instrument, it's fun to play and it looks great.
