History:
Purchase: Recently bought from a music shop in my local town, was shop demo model,I got it for a snip at £600 with a gig bag and 3 packs of strings. The guitar was manufactured in Nov 2000 so is still pretty new.
What I Like About This Gibson Les Paul Studio: In the band I'm in, it calls for lots of rock and roll/ blues type riffs and chords. This guitar makes some wonderful rich tones when played. It sounds great in either clean or overdrive. When you really rock it it sounds like a well tuned ferrari! I play it through a Fender Deluxe 90 and they really compliment each other.
It is so easy to hold, being lighter than the standard Les Pauls and is a real dream to play. I recently changed to this from a semi-acoustic and the difference is amazing, no more arm or finger strain. The fingerboard action and bridge set up make this guitar effortless to play, even for long rehearsals.
What I Do NOT Like About The Gibson Les Paul Studio: I agree with the nitro-cellulose finish being a little soft and easily marked but other than that I LOVE IT!
Gibson Les Paul Studio Quality Rating: Mine is Ruby Red with gold hardware. It has the Alnico humbucker pickups with the new "hot" treble pickup which is a real belter.
Typically of Gibson the instrument oozes quality and the Ruby Red with its multi-layed laquer finish still shows the grain of the maple top. It looks fabulous.
Review Summary: I've always wanted to own a Gibson and now I do, I am not disappointed. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone. I'm keeping mine forever!
