Purchase: I bought this guitar at The Guitar Center in Lawndale, CA. I've been studying for about 7 months now and wanted to finally get an electric. I didn't want to get a $100 P.O.S that I would have to replace after a year or so. After reading reviews, I decided on Ibanez. When all was said and done I paid about $325. Pros: I tried a Jackson and a Fender (can't remember the models) for about the same price and the Ibenez had much better sound quality. Stringing is a little harder than most, but you get used to it. Once you get it tuned just right, lock them down and you won't have to bother with tuning too much. The neck feels great...which is good for beginners like me who are working through scales and chords. Cons: About the only thing I really didn't like about this guitar is Ibenez's quality control. I literally went through 4 RG220's before I got one that worked. 2 out of 3 of the ones I got had defective tone controls. One had something wrong with the neck adjustment...E and A kept buzzing, even though I raised the action almost to the point that it seemed that the adjustment screw would come out. Quality: Construction seems pretty well put together. Nice color also. I bought the dark blue 220 and it has a great finish. Summary: If you know what to defects to look for, you shouldn't have any problems. This is a great guitar for the price. When buying....do yourself a favor and check that the tone adjustment works.....you probably won't use it much, but Hell,if you ask me....if it's there, I want it to work! :) On 2004-07-18, Steven H. gave this Ibanez Electric Guitar a 4...(9443)
Purchase: I BOUGHT MY IBANEZ RG220 AT A GUITAR CENTER ,CLOSE TO WHERE I LIVE. I WENT IN WANTING A JACKSON OR A SCHECTER, BUT ONCE I PICKED THE IBANEZ UP, I WANTED IT. I PAID $320 FOR IT. IT SAID $299, BUT THE TAXES MIGHT GET YOU. IT ORIGINALLY PRICED AT $675, BUT I GOT A GOOD DEAL ON IT. Pros: I LOVE THE FAST ACTION PLAYABILITY ON IT. I CAN MOVE MY FINGERS SO MUCH FASTER ON IT, THAN MY EPIPHONE AND FENDER. IT HAS A VERY CLEAN DISTORTION SOUND INSTEAD OF A FUZZY SOUND. I ALSO LIKE THE COLOR TOO. IT IS A METALLIC LAVENDER. Cons: I'M NOT TO CRAZY ABOUT THE LOCK ON THE NECK OR THE STRINGING UP THE GUITAR. THE TREMELO IS A LITTLE OUT OF WHACK.I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE IT A DIFFERENT WAY. I'M NOT USED TO THE STYLE, BUT I"LL GET IT EVENTUALLY. Quality: THE NECK IS THIN WHICH ENABLES YOU TO PLAY QUICKER AND EASIER IN MY OPINION. THE TWO TWIN HUMBUCKERS GIVE IT A VERY GOOD SOUND.IT HAS A CLEAN SOUND WITHOUT DISTORTION AND YOU CAN GET IT TO WHERE IT HAS A VERY HEAVY SOUND. Summary: IT IS A VERY GOOD GUITAR FOR ANY PLAYER, PRO OR BEGINNER. A BEGINNER MIGHT HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE LOCK AND THE UNIQUE WAY OF STRINGING IT UP, BUT YOU'LL GET USED TO IT AFTER A WHILE. IT IS A GREAT BRAND, I THINK IBANEZ IS A TOP NOTCH GUITAR AND MANUFACTURER. THEY MAKE GUITARS WITH SOME OF THE BEST QUALITY AROUND. I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR 4 AND A HALF YEARS AND I FINALLY GOT AN IBANEZ THE OTHER DAY. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS GUITAR TO ANY GUITAR PLAYER. Purchase: I bought this badboy at Guitar Center in MD for $280. I was lookin at Jacksons but they were a bit too pricey for me. Pros: I absolutly love the neck on this guitar, super low action makes for fret melting speed. The humbuckers could be better but they are still better than single coils for distortion. Cons: The trem feels too woobly and lose and it takes time to change strings with the lockin but, but ill get used to it Quality: Well the fretboard is rosewood with i think maple neck. And im not sure of the body, but the cutaway makes for easy acess to the 24th fret. Summary: Its great for beginers or for advanced guitar players, but a true pro might opt for the expensive ESP or Jackson guitars. On 2002-10-22, Tyler gave this Ibanez Electric Guitar a 4...(2916)
Purchase: I bought this guitar at Guitar Center. First of all, when dealing with guitar salesmen, know what you want, and dont let them talk you into something you dont. I bought the RG220 for $300. My price was reduced by $10 for a small mark on the peg head. It was a minor, and only visual defect. Pros: Wow! Plug this thing in, and you can really have fun! Me and my friend would jam, and even though he was a bit better than i was, my guitar made up for me. The sound is amazing, and it is really a joy to play. And with the locking tremelo, it stays in tune pretty good, as long as you stay away from the whammo bar allot. Cons: It has 2 humbuckers, and one of them {the lower one} which pumps out the bright, happy tones, when plugged in the when i switched to the lighter tunes the volume would get light too! So i have to turn up my volume knob on the guitar, and gain on the amp. I'm sure it could be fixed, but i never worried about it enough to go have it done. Quality: Great! Feels good standing up, or sitting down. Besides the small little mark on it, it is visually impressive also. I suggest going to ibanez.com and going to their catalog page and downloading it. BUT DONT FALL IN LOVE WITH THE EXPENSIVE ONES!!! unless of course you can afford it. Summary: This guitar was my first. I do not recomend it as a guitar to learn on, but rather for an guitarist that has had a cupple of years under his/her belt. It sounds great, and if you are ready for some awesome sounds[especially with a petal] then your looking at a very nice guitar. Purchase: I purchased this guitar at the guitar center. I payed 300.00 for it. Pros: I love the floating tremelo [floyd rose] and the pickups are somewhat heavy. I bought this as a backup guitar and it seems to perform well. The guitar stays in tune due to the locking headstock. This is the best guitar for the money. Cons: The sound wasn't too impressive for me. For a guitar that lists at 600.00 i would have expected a higher quality humbucker. Quality: the construction is ok. Its nice in most places but ibanez have crappy inputs. My input on my other ibanez broke and this one is already loose. Summary: Overall, a good guitar for the intermediate player just sop it up and put some emg's in there.
