History: I mostly play rockin all it's forms. I'm not in a band but I jam with a lot of different people.

Purchase: I bought this guitar from music123.com for $350 because I needed a better guitar than the beginner guitar that I had.
Pros: It plays wonderfully. I can't really tell a difference between this guitar and the gibsons. It's really light which is good if your playing for long periods of time. It also sounds wonderful through an amp.
Cons: Since the guitar is so light the weight of the headstock causes the neck to point down whenever you let go of the neck, so that's pretty annoying. The major problem eith this guitar is the input jack is right on the front of the body and it's really weak right there. My friend was playing it and he stepped on the cable and jarred the guitar and it cracked the guitar and it has become so bad now that I have to buy a new guitar.
Quality: It seems to be pretty good except for the problem I mentioned above.

Summary: I wouldn't risk buying this guitar if I were you. I would reccomend saving up a little extra money and buying a les paul. Les Pauls are a lot sturdier.

Purchase: I bought this slice of heaven on ebay one night while cruising the net. I had been looking for a new guitar and had played one of these beauties, so when I saw it I just had to have it. It cost me $400 Australian.
Pros: Everything! Absolutely everything. The set in neck is a slam for rocking out those big solo's, fast or slow it does them all! The tuning on this guitar is excellent, I've never had a guitar that stayed in tune for so long(3-4 days!). The action on this guitar is excellent, it makes me forget that it isn't a real Gibson when I play it. The tonal quality of this guitar is excellent producing a wonderful phat sound, from distortion to clean it all works great. The Gibson humbuckers are the best but what can you expect? They are Gibson after all.
Cons: The guitar apart from all its shine is nigh on the heavy side, but this can be solved with a comfortable strap.
Quality: The quality seems good. I've had no trouble whatsoever with the pickup selector, and the frets seem to have a long life in them!

Summary: For the price this guitar is probably the best buy you will find anywhere, whether you're a rocker or a heavy meatal player or a punk player it all works great. It seems quite similar in sound to the Gibson but with i quarter the price its a must buy!!!

Purchase: I bought the guitar in Keymusicshop Belgium and paid 400 Euro for it
Pros: I especially like the guitar because of the great sound and looks it carries with him. Its a perfect replica of the gibson sg. I've got the cherry version. It sounds great and you can play all sorts of musicstyles with it. I also find it cool that the jack goes in the front in stead of on the side like with my old guitar. Also the 2 volume and tone controls come in handy.
Cons: There's not so much that i dislike. But when you let go of the guitar and it hangs only on the strap the neck tends to point to the ground.
Quality: The construction is very good and the guitar can take a fall or so. Looks just like the gibson

Summary: It's in my oppinion one of the best guitars if not the best guitar you can buy for this price. It's beautifull, plays great, feels unbreakable,... On this moment this is the best guitar in my collection!!

Purchase: At Long & Mcquade in Toronto, for $390 CDN (around $300 USD).
Pros: First and foremost, it looks kickass (SGs are MADE to come in 'Cherry Red' and you know it!). Second, the tone on the 'Treble' mode is just amazing. The neck also feels great to play. Also, the latest version of this guitar features grover tuners, which are just great, at least compared to the ugly green ones of yesteryear.
Cons: Well, a problem with all the Gibsons/Epiphones is the balancing of the guitar. With a heavy headstock, and the strap button behind the guitar, the head tends to point toward you're feet. so A) get a nice, thick strap, B) Hang it low if u like, and play it close to upright, or C)Well I assume you'll be holding it with your left hand anyways, so y'know. Also, and this is just personal taste mind you, the 'Rhythm' option just gives a too heavy, deep, bassy, muffled tone. But thats just me.
Quality: Built like a rock. Treat it like a guitar, and not a skateboard, and you'll be happy for years to come. I do however recommend buying a little bottle of guitar polish, as every smudge shows nicely.

Summary: Great guitar, I'm happy, but you may want to try before buying.

Purchase: I bought this guitar through musicians friend for $350.00. I bought it because I needed something better than my old beginner guitar.
Pros: Everything. It plays wonderfully, it looks incredible. It puts out a nice sound also. I've played Gibson guitars and I can't really tell that much af a difference in playability between the G-400 and other Gibson guitars. This guitar can be used for any style you want. I play a lot of classic rock and it works great for that, but you can also sounds great for metal and heavier stuff and it works great for softer mellow stuff also. The tone and volume controls for each pickup are great. It adds a ton of versatility in your music. The trapazoid inlays add a great look to a great guitar.
Cons: It's too cool.
Quality: No problems so far. It seems to be built pretty solid. The set neck joint is really nice.

Summary: If you need a great guitar for a great price, I would strongly reccomend this guitar. Whatever level of guitarist you are, this guitar does it all, from bustin' out solos to laying down smooth rythm tracks. Buy it, you wont regret it.

Purchase: This G-400 was purchased through Musician's Friend Catalog. I called MF up, they sent the guitar to me and I was playing it by the end of the week. I got this guitar because I wanted a change of style from the Lotus Stratocastor style I was playing at the time. I really liked the agressive "devil horns" or "flame topped" guitar but I couldn't afford a Gibson so i figured I would give this a try. I paid about $450 for it.
Pros: I love the styling of the body. It is aggressive yet classic. It has a nice "Fuzzy" sound to it. It carries the nice name of Epiphone made BY Gibson. The red just adds to the majesty of the guitar. The way its got the double cut out allows me to reach all 22 frets effortlessly.
Cons: The fret board is different, not really bad, but different because its wide unlike a strat's fret board. The g-400 is more of a back up guitar than a lead guitar.
Quality: It's modeled after the 1962 Gibson SG I believe. It's a solid bodied guitar made of Mahogany. It has two covered pick ups that is controled by two seperate volume and two seperate tone knobs. Its no Gibson, but one would have a difficult time telling the difference.

Summary: This is a great "bang for the buck" guitar. I would highly recommend this guitar. It has killer tone and can make many bad amps sound nice. It's way easy to play on.

Purchase: I did not buy this guitar but my cousin did. He paid $360 at Daddys Junky Music in Boston MA. He loves SG's being the reason why he bought it.
Pros: I have played it several times.it sounds great on distortion high or low. The clean tone is even better. You can hear each and every note clear The pickups are great. All frets are easy to reach because of how far back the cutaways are. This is great for solos and any chords. This guitar looks plain awesome. It is put together in the U.S.A. as it says on the back of the headstock also but made overseas but thats no big deal because the labor costs are cheaper making you pay less for an awesome guitar. I recomend the red color but its about what you like.
Cons: the only thing i dont like about this is that the strap button isnt on the end of the cutaway but on the back of the body where the screws would be if it had a bolt on neck. This makes it unbalanced so if you are wearing it on the strap the guitar leans forward and the neck end goes down to the floor.
Quality: The construction is nice. There hasnt been any changes made to this guitar yet. i.e. nothing has had to be tightened it is very well put together. I havent played a Gibson S.G. but im sure this must come pretty close to the quality.

Summary: All in all this is not just great for the price its great for any price they could give it. This is a real quality instrument at an awesome price. I would have to say if your going to get a guitar and you like to play any or every kind of music get this guitar because of its great tone and looks.

Purchase: I was looking for my second guitar in my local music shop when i saw this on the rack. After seeing it i knew i had to have it. 2 Hours later i walked out with it. It cost me 477$ CDN. It has a nice Ebony finish and silver hardware.
Pros: This guitar is amazing to play. The set in thicker neck makes speed solos a breeze. This guitar also has amazing sustain, sometimes too much! Tapping with this guitar is helped greatly by the sustain. The Grover turners stay in tune for days. The Gibson covered humbuckers and nice and meaty on Dist channel and have great acoustic sound on clean(if u dont watch your EQ controlls it will get kinda bassy)Ive herd people say they had trouple with the 3 position pickup selector, but ive had mine for months now and i havnt had a single problem.
Cons: The guitar is kinda head heavy but that can be helped with a good leather strap.
Quality: The guitar is well built. Ive accidently banged it a couple of times and the finnish held up nicely and there was no ding.Again ive had no trouble with the pickup selector.

Summary: For the money this guitar is a top choice. It is great for many kinds of music(i play mostly rock/metal)and you wont be dissapointed with the quality. There is no dought that the gibson Sg is better but its also a lot more. So bottom line, if you're looking for a good guitar with a lower budget,BUY THIS GUIAR!!!!! METALLICA RULES!!!!

Purchase: i got this from rockers in london i got it because i had got a credit note from taking back and epiphone les paul i paid Ģ330 for it which was ok considering it
Pros: the design is wicked it looks cool its an sg shape! the pickups aint great but come on what do you expect it cost 330 the neck is fast and comfortable to play it holds in tune really well very versitile can be used for everthing in all a really great guitar for the money
Cons: im not to keen on the tuners i would rather they got the green tuners from the original gibsons or copies of them otherwise nothing else
Quality: it is built exstremly well i have hit it and thrashed it to bits and its cool i have dropped it a couple of times and it aint damaged

Summary: so if you want a guitar that can take a beating get it all it needs it better pickups like emg's or seymour duncans and you will have the mutts nutts in cheap guitars

Purchase: Long & McQuade music store in Vancouver, Canada. About 565 canadian bucks including tax. Bought it'cause loved the looks, price, and sound.
Pros: Nice tone, not bad quality for the price, good sustain. Really cool looks.
Cons: Machine heads... They just suck. Will change 'em as soon as I have time. If you gonna use strings with gauge less then 11, change them right away, guitar will nor say in tune any long. The wiring is not as good I as I want.
Quality: Look above. But all the wood work is fine. Maybe just missing some minor details that SG Supreme has.

Summary: Some problems I discribed above, but overall, one of the best guitars I ever played. If you are ready to pay about 500$ on aftermarket parts, you can make it sound better the "real" SG that cost 2500$

Purchase: i got this huitar at guitar center, for 420$. I decided to go with this rather then a standard start from fender...because epiphone guitars are cheaper gibsons, and because the g-400 looked so beautiful. i chose black, wich it looks awsome in.
Pros: I like the smoothe neck, allows you to slide easyier, and the comfortable frets for easy playing. I also love how this guitar looks, with its SG body. The stock pickups, are pretty good, for stock, but u can change them if u want....i didnt though.
Cons: the only really thing i noticed that was a downside....was because of its strap button placement... it allows the neck to be heavy, and if you let go of the neck the guitar slants downwards....no big problem though...it shouldnt be enough to stop anyone from buying this wonderful instrument.
Quality: Quality is great, the color black or red, looks awsome on this guitar....pickups are good....same thing i said above.

Summary: Awsome guitar for anyone, looks awsome, plays great...now go out and get it!

Purchase: I bought this guitar 'cause I liked it's black sabbath's shape. I bought this guitar from Millennium Music (In Italy) and I paid it € 206.
Pros: I like it's shape and it's wonderful color (dark red)...all at all it's an SG! The bridge is very good even if it doesn't give all the possibilities of a Floyd Rose.
Cons: Maybe the neck it's a bit too heavy and it tends to point toward to the floor when you're playng with the strap.
Quality: This guitar has a very powerful sound, very good for hard-rock or rock 'n roll. The woods used are good too.

Summary: This guitar is wonderful, even if i already had an ESP LTD F-200 (that's a little better...EHEHEH), I felt in love with the shape of this wonderful guitar, the woods were good too...so I decided to buy this jewel and put on it two seymour duncan humbuckers (the screaming demon and the invader)the sound was already good (in the review i didn't considered the new humbuckers)but now it's totally stunning!!!

Purchase: I bought it from my friend for CZK 9900,- I wanted this guitar īcause I like AC/DC and Angus Young has this guitar. But I couldnīt afford the original Gibon SG.
Pros: I like its look and sound.Itīs deep cherry red,has silver pickups and slightly green tuning machines. It sounds like the original SG,it has that hot and scorching sound that breakes the walls.
Cons: I think that tuning machines could be more stable.
Quality: It is shaped like SG.Body and neck is made of mahogany.Fingerboardīs made of rosewood, I think.Inlays are trapezoid pearls.Pickups are Epiphone humbuckers with silver cover.

Summary: I love this Scorching Guitar!
