Purchase: purchased through catologue.paid 535,00 with shipping. Pros: i was looking for the absolute best amp for my classical guitar.many amps have small speakers and do not provide the warmth needed for nylon.i narrowed my choices down to carvin, swr or a p.a. system.carvin offers a tweeter that has a volume control.i roll this back for my nylon and turn it up for my regular acoustic or electric.carvin has built in effects(reverb, delay, chours, flange),is light,3 chanels, can play 3 different instruments at once with independent effects on each, can play bass through it.sounds great with all. Cons: i damaged the speaker playing slap bass through it after only 2 days of haveing it(carvin manual said to really get on it to make sure i liked it or i could send it back)and customer sevice would not replace the speaker.they were unsympathetic.they had an attitude like'as long as the check cleared, your on your own'.i could have sent it back but it truly is a great amp.so the amp is somewhat fagile in tha respect.also the contol knobs are plastic and long and could snap off. Quality: as far as i can tell its structurely sound.the grean covering could have been insalled better.theres gaps where bear would shows.and the grill that protects the speaker is made of plastic.probably to reduce weight.casters are plastic also. Summary: the amp sound great.and i tried all the amps.this amp is also more versitile than the others but they cut corners on the construction to keep the cost down.i wish customer service was more helpful.if carvin would have replaced my speaker i would be even more happy about the amp.

Purchase: I purchased this amp in the summer of '98 because I needed a good amp in order to hear my acoustic over the drummer in our garage band. I ordered it online at www.carvin.com, for about $450. It showed up about 4 weeks later.
Pros: I like this amp because with the right EQ tweaking it actually sounds like an acoustic guitar signal. Most of the electric guitar amps I've fed my Ovation through make it sound like a tinny electric with a lot of midrange. This one is great. It's also very versatile. Not only is it a great acoustic guitar amp, it makes electrics sound great, it's bass-guitar-capable, and it has an XLR microphone input! With its three independent channels, It's like having a "Combo PA."
Cons: There is nothing I don't like about this unit.
Quality: This amp has taken a beating in the 2+ years I've had it, and the only thing that shows for it is the two knobs I've broken off, and some scratches on the sides and back. One minor note: About a year and a half after I got this amp, it needed some re-soldering in the inside. It has been fine since.
Summary: Basically, this amp kicks ass. It's great for just about any application at all. It's perfect for singer/songwriter or coffeehouse applications. At 100 watts, it can handle 2 instruments and a mic and still put out some good volume.
