On 2008-10-01, Whitey rated this Evans EMAD Bass Drum Head a 5...(12987)
History: Active, gigging drummer, I play in a hard rock/metal band. Over 15 yrs experience.

Purchase: I bought it with my DW set that I bought at Dale's Drum Shop in Harrisburg Pa.
Pros: Everything. Thick, versatile, [because you can change the dampening rings on the outside of the head]. Gives an already outstanding bass drum, [20x22], an even better, thunderous sound.
Cons: Nothing. Nothing at all. Ok, it wasn't free, and it didn't come with free beer, but other than that, nothing.
Quality: It seems pretty thick, I put some good beatings on it with my double pedal and, so far so good.

Review Summary: Look, my DW set kicks a##, so the sound was already great, just as a Starclassic, Masterworks, or Orion sounds to their owners. No matter what set you have, from top of the line to a beginner set, the Evans EMAD head will make your bass drum sound awesome.
