I can't vouch for all the Gibson acoustics out there; frankly, I wasn't expecting to like this one until I played it. Unplugged, the sound is large and bright but with more bottom end than any Taylor, Guild or Martin I've ever played. The top end sparkles, "out-Tayloring" my otherwise beloved Taylor 810. I sent the guitar back. I didn't want to spend 200 or so bucks getting the thing fixed up the way I needed. I have a feeling that, 'set up' properly and left to sit for ten years (sic) for the wood to mature, the guitar might have been OK for anyone liking muddy uninspiring tone.
