On 2003-12-05, Omer rated this Ibanez RX 40 a 4...(6677)

Purchase: I bought this guitar from a friend one year ago, for about 200$. I was a total beginner, and had no idea about electric guitars (I played classical).
Pros: The guitar is very affordable, and you can be sure it's not handicapped, and it's not worse than its "big brothers". It gives you great rock, metal and blues sounds, and not many people will recognize the difference between the RX 40 and the RG series guitars.
Cons: First of all, it works best with overdrive or distortion, but the clean sucks. I love jazz, but the clean sound of this guitar kinda drives off my motivation. Second, the vibrato bar gets this guitar out of tune, and I always had some tuning problems with it.
Quality: The guitar is high quality, and it doesn't look like any cheap guitar. I never had any special problems.

Review Summary: This is a great affordable guitar. It's a great guitar for beginners and a great practice guitar, much better than a Squier.
