Jet City JCA20H Reviews 3

At new these amps come in at around $249, which is a heck of a good price for this amp. Other than Blackstar and maybe a couple other manufacturers there isn't anyone who can get this good of an amp at this low of a new price. Peavey does have some decent amps but nothing this low. I would recommend this amp to anyone who need s good 20 watt hea... [read more on Audiofanzine]

Overall I highly recommend this amp for guys looking for a small (let me stress. Very small) gigging amp or bedroom practice and I am sure that with a tube change and a nice cab it?d be a great recording amp. The JCA20H is listed on musiciansfriend.com for $349.00 which I think is a smokin? deal for such a great little amp. If you are looking fo... [read more on Audiofanzine]

This is the JCA20H 20 watt guitar head made by Jet City 333 which was designed by Soldano. It has an optional 1x12 cabinet as well as can be purchased in a 1 or 2x12 combo with Eminence brand speakers.

I saw these in one of the big mail order catalogs and was excited to go try one. I found one at my local Guitar Center and well, to get out of the swarming choir of out of tune metal riffs, I bought it and left to find a quieter place. Gotta love Guitars Centers liberal return policy! $299 out the door.

I liked its Minnie Me vibe of a real halfstack. This amp really does have enough power to play a show, but not the tone to back it up.

The tone. It sucked. It was noisy and thin. There was way too much background noise being picked up by this amp. The drive way very trebly and almost digital sounding. I was unable to get a nice warm breakup.

It was finished well, the knobs were secure. I didn't bother to look at the tubes but I'm certain their decision on what tubes to put in came by how cheap they could get tubes. Maybe new tubes would have sold me on keeping this amp, but I didn't bother.

If you are looking for a gigable, good sounding tube amp, this is not it. If you are new to tube amps or want something fun to mess with around the house, sure this will fit the bill.
