On 2004-01-17, Dave rated this Marshall MG30 DFX a 1...(7524)

Purchase: Bought this amp for a Christmas present for myself at Guitar Center for $249.
Pros: Good sound for a small amp and the built in effects are slick.
Cons: After two weeks the sound starting cutting out. It would happen sporadically but seemed to get worse over time. Took it back to guitar center and was told that I wasn't the first one to have this problem. The salesman said that there have been some chronic problems with the MG line. Rather than take a chance on another low end Marshall I traded it for another brand.
Quality: The amp is well built and looks good. Too bad the reliability is so poor.

Review Summary: I would have been very satisfied with this amp had it continued to perform like the first week I had it. Check into the reliability problems before you buy one and make sure the dealer's return policy is good. Guitar Center was great about taking it back.
