Martin OOO-16GT Reviews 4

This Martin is a OOO-16GT. The 'GT' stands for 'Gloss Top'. It's an auditorium size guitar meaning it has a smaller body than your typical dreadnaught guitar. The guitar features a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides. The neck profile is shallow resulting in an extremely playable neck. The fit and finish on this guitar is true Martin. Even the soundboard braces visible through the soundhole are hand sanded and fit perfectly. It came with medium gauge Martin strings and was setup with low action and no buzz. I'm a professional guitarist with 31 years experience. I play many styles of music and perform blues, jazz, contemporary and chord/melody style arrangements on this Martin. I use the OOO-16GT mainly in my instructional videos for Elmore Music.

I'm a Professional Martin Artist and acquired this guitar through C.F. Martin in Nazareth for $729.

This guitar has a great tonal balance. The sound is rich in overtones and has very nice sustain. The playability is another huge plus for this Martin. The fingerboard is made of micarta, which is a man-made material. Visually, it looks like ebony but has a slightly warmer sound almost like rosewood.

For this price range and what it intends to compete with, the only thing I'd like to see changed is an ebony fingerboard.

The construction of this guitar is flawless. Martin really takes their time and doesn't overlook any attention to detail. The guitar is pretty simple without a lot of ornamentation which gives it a classy appearance and great feel.

For the price, I would look into a OOO-16GT if you're shopping for a multi-purpose acoustic steel-string. You certainly can't go wrong with one of these.
