On 2002-02-15, Jeff Magro rated this Martin Sigma DR-7 a 5...(1651)

Purchase: I boutht my Sigma DR-7 when they first came out in 1970, I paid $150.00 for it. I compared it with the Yamaha's when they first came out and thought the Sigma (made in Japan) sounded better.
Pros: I purchased my Sigma DR-7 about 1970 or 1971. I installed a fishman rare earth pick up. I play at coffee houses and I can't tell you the number of compliments I receive. People who own "real" Martins come up to me and tell me that my guitar sounds better than theirs. Truly the great sound comes from the seasoned wood!!
Cons: The keys eventually got hard to turn so I replaced them with Grover's.
Quality: Solid Spruce Top, rosewood sides, Mahogony split back. The top has thin even grain lines.

Review Summary: Test drive Sigma's!! You won't regret it and the guitar quality and tone is more than what you pay for the guitar. It's up there with the best.
