Yamaha makes no junk. Even their entry-level instruments are good for beginners and intermediates. I don't play in a band, I just record instrumental music at home on a four track, and I absolutely do not need something better. If music is how you make a living, spend $800.00 (or more). It's a great beginner and back-up bass! I would recommend this for any beginner, but if you want to progress with your bass I suggest looking for a higher quality axe. [read more on Audiofanzine]

This bass is great. It is good for both a starter and an established musician. The bass was so great that even though the only color that was left in the store was purple, I got it anyway. Keep rockin' with the Yamaha RBX270 bass! [read more on Audiofanzine]

It is a great buy for the money. So what if there's a stigma attached to the stage performer with an inexpensive Yamaha in his/her hands! It compares to the Music Man Stingray in sound. I only use my $1700 stingray in the studio. On stage, this baby really gives a blow to the gut. [read more on Audiofanzine]
