GuitarMania2 an AZ Hit!

GuitarMania2 made its Arizona debut right in Fender’s Scottsdale backyard, with 20 artfully created Stratocaster® guitars on display at the heavily trafficked Dillard’s department store location at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Presented by Casino Arizona and benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, the colorful exhibit ran from Nov. 20 to Dec. 8 and featured a drawing in which the winner will receive a John Mayer-autographed Stratocaster. All 20 guitars on display were expertly decorated in a wide variety of themes and motifs by various artists, and will eventually be auctioned off (see photos).

The GuitarMania2 display also featured one of the 10-foot fiberglass Stratocaster replicas—this one by comic book superstar and Valley resident Todd McFarlane— that made the first GuitarMania event such a smash in the Phoenix area in 2005 and earlier in 2006.

GuitarMania®, which made headlines in Arizona in 2006 as the state’s largest-ever public art project, originated in Cleveland in 2002, where it raised more than $1 million. To date, Phoenix is the only other city to present the program.
