Billy Cobham Headlined Drum Daze 2007

Yamaha Drum artist Billy Cobham hit the last beat at Drum Daze 2007, an annual event sponsored by Columbus Pro Percussion. Held at the state-of-the-art Capitol Theater in downtown Columbus, Ohio, Drum Daze continues to grow each year. Cobham closed the event with 50 minutes of solid playing to a crowd of more than 800 people. After his performance, he fielded questions and played a short ending segment, which was followed by a standing ovation. The event also featured world-renowned drummers Sheila E., Chris Pennie, Terence Higgins and Jojo Mayer.

"It was a real treat to have a true drumming legend like Billy Cobham at Drum Daze," said Jim Rupp, owner of Columbus Pro Percussion. "He had the crowd entranced while he played, which few drummers can do. Billy was really amazing to listen to, and my staff and I felt that it was one of the highlights of all of our Drum Daze festivals."

Cobham, an accomplished composer and record producer, has performed on hundreds of records with his own groups and with top artists including Miles Davis, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, George Duke and Peter Gabriel and is the subject of a new documentary film entitled Sonic Mirror. For more than 30 years, he has received international acclaim as the consummate percussionist.
