Alfred distributes John Favicchia’s Elements

Alfred Music Publishing just announced that they are now distributing jazz drummer and clinician John Favicchia’s Elements book that focuses on improving drum vocabulary and improvisational skills. Favicchia is a well known name in the workshop/drum clinics world around the country as well as for his work performing with names such as Steve Khan, Tony Levin, Chieli Minucci, Lonnie Plaxico, John Benitez, Harvie S, Larry Coryell, Eddie Money, The Tokens, Dean Brown,Rachel Z, Chris Geith, Laco Deczi, Mike Pope, John Benitez,Steve Adelson and Bob Malach, and also by performing with his own band, Dharma All Stars that blends various music styles in one.

Elements was designed for all drummers who are looking to improve their skills. By first demonstrating the “elements” of 16th-note straight and triplet drumming, Favicchia shows various techniques for executing drum patterns in a more complex and creative way. He demonstrates the execution of accent figures in different places on the measure, combinations with double-stroke rolls and orchestration concepts so one can improve four-limb independence while exploring different approaches to the kit. Elements comes with a MP3/data disc that contains bass play-along tracks that cover almost all music genres, from Latin to Rock as well as samples of hits ranging in various difficulties. The disc complements the teachings within the book with an array of exercises that include grooves, drum fills, ensemble figures and solos.

“In the many books I have seen, I am very excited about Elements,” comments Dom Famularo, world-renowned drummer, author, and clinician. “This is a much-needed aspect of learning drumset. John, with his extensive playing and teaching experience, has shared a valuable step in really understanding how to spark creativity in drumset ideas.”
