Unique stompboxes from Down Under

Guitarists usually like to sweeten the pot when utilizing effects – instead of just using one pedal there will undoubtedly be at least one more used in tandem. This is the way us guitarists think, right? Well, DVK Technologies founder, Craig Paine and pedal demo guru Brett Kingman have just released 4 new models that have dual effect functions. These pedals offer the guitarist the most popular pairing of effects in one convenient stompbox anchored in the classic rock world.

Kingman and Paine base these pedals on vintage circuit designs that have been painstakingly reworked. The goal for these pedals is to provide a wide range of tonal possibilities, while at the same time remaining true to the original sounds. The pedals feature two independent footswitches for each effect and solid, compact enclosures customized with original graphics that make a statement as soon as they’re setup. Staying consistent to this custom artwork, their GoldTop Fuzz/Vibe pedal features what appears to be the Mad Hatter and March Hare with red LED’s in place for their eyes, which pulsate or stay lit depending on the function of the pedal. Very cool! This pedal also includes a reverse function for placing the fuzz or vibe first in the signal chain.

Other pedals in this lineup include:

Hairball: Combo 808-style overdrive and selectable full-range/treble booster. Angry and aggressive by nature, this pedal also cleans up nicely and responds well to individual picking styles and guitar volume settings. Use it to recreate Brian May’s classic Rangemaster sound and much more!

The Mrs.: A legendary compressor circuit paired with a booster to give you a sonic palette ranging from loud and clean to outright filthy! Compressor features Norm/Bright switch for some extra zing and the booster features selectable Normal/Fat.

SilverTop: Legendary TS-type overdrive circuit paired with rate-controllable vintage Vibe. Includes toggle switch for reversing the order of the effects.

DVK is based out of Melbourne, Australia. Video demos of all four models are available at www.dvktech.com and on YouTube on the burgerman666 channel. DVK products are distributed in North America by MV Pro Audio. A list of dealers can be found at www.mvproaudio.com/dealers.html.
