Genelec offers mid/high focused tri-amplified monitor system

Genelec surely listens to their customers’ opinions. After receiving feedback from their most loyal users, Genelec decided to answer their requests for a more compact monitoring system that could be ideal for smaller production rooms. They accomplished just that by releasing the 1238cF Tri-Amplified DSP. Weighting out the fact that most of production rooms nowadays are equipped with subwoofer as a permanent part of the system, the company decided to make the 1238CF with its focus on Mid/High frequencies spectrum.

Here is a quick overview of the 1238CF features:

  • Three-way DSP monitoring loudspeaker including a slim speaker enclosure, two eight-inch (210-mm) long-throw bass drivers, a five-inch (130-mm) proprietary Genelec midrange driver and a one-inch (25-mm) metal dome tweeter, multiple power amplifiers, digital signal processing (DSP) circuitry and active, low-level crossovers.
  • Compatible with proprietary Genelec Loudspeaker Manager™ (GLM™) control software, Version 1.4.0, and can be combined with Genelec 8200/7200 Series products in the same control network.
  • Bass response down to 57 Hz, as the focus is on Mid/High directivity characteristics. The system can optionally be used in combination with a subwoofer in either stereo or multichannel applications.
  • Sealed enclosure measures a mere 24" (610 mm) H x 18.5" (470 mm) W x 10.125" (257 mm) D
  • Uses Genelec’s advanced Directivity Controlled Waveguide™ (DCW™) technology (same as the 1038B), which provides excellent stereo imaging and frequency balance, even in difficult acoustic environments. The system can be used in both vertical and horizontal orientation by simply rotating the DCW unit.
  • Sound pressure levels of up to 117 dB maximum peak acoustic output per pair (measured with music audio), at a distance of 39.37" (one meter).
  • Constructed of painted MDF, which is heavily braced to eliminate structural resonances.
  • Rack-mount adapter is available, so that the amplifier unit can be positioned separately from the enclosure for flush- or on-wall mounting applications, allowing for more efficient amplifier cooling and easier access to the CAT5 and audio connections for GLM and AutoCal connections during in-room system calibration.

The 1238CF retails for a list price of $7,800 each.
