Hands-on review: ZVEX Effects Fuzz Probe

I purchased this guitar a few months ago at a local music store in Worcester, MA. I had no intentions of buying a guitar when I went in there I was just looking around. Once I saw it though I had to at least try it out. It stuck out like a sore thumb. It was a red cherry burst with SD style pickups and a raised pickguard. Great looking instrument. The neck was thinner than most of the strats that I usually play, so it seemed really much easier to play. They were selling it new for $279.00. I decided that I wanted it and when I asked what else it came with they through in a gator case and knocked about $50 off the original price. Not a bad deal.

I think the color and the overall feel of it while you are playing. It really does look, feel and sound excellent for the price.

There are a few minor things that I don't like. First is the placement of the Rhythm/Treble switch. When "jammin out" sometimes I inadvertantly switch it from treble to rhythm which when you are recording causes a lot of aggrivation. Another thing that bothers me is I think that maybe some of the frets are a little to over bevilled. Sometimes the low E rolls off the side when playin 1/4 down and up. Other than that I can't see too much more I would change.

This guitar is solid body mahogony, body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard. It had 2 Seymore Duncan style Pu's well....It looks like a Les Paul...Descent quality for the price.

Overall I am pretty satisfied with this guitar. I play it all the time and have almost no problems with it. It plays great, it sounds great, it stays in tune and it looks outstanding. I think that is what I fell in love with the most.
