In use, I have found the Audix i5, from a personal standpoint, to completely slaughter the SM57 when it comes to live sound, and occasionally for recording. I definitely like the fact that this mic has a great bass response. Sometimes with dynamic mics, the bass response is weak, or it can't handle the really low frequencies.
