Austin AU341S Reviews 3

I picked this up at a Pawn Shop for $106.00. It was my first guitar, and it was a birthday present at age 15 from my mom. I had taken a recent interest in music, and making music, so my mom thought it would be a great present. And it was.

I like this guitar because of its ease for playability, and its price.

You very often may find a flat tone, but you only notice it after playing more expensive and upgraded guitars (ones that are in the $500-$600 range). The worst feature about this is its tone, and it's also sort of uncomfortable to play. Can't beat the price though!

This is a very standard acoustic guitar. I've heard rumors that Austin is manufactured by Alvarez, a fine acoustic guitar company. Despite some of it's degrading features, it does have a few good surprises. In a matter of speaking, this thing IS very good for the price. It retails for $129.99 and it has fit me good for about 7 months now. I've even recorded a few demos with it (but I'm upgrading now to a Yamaha FG-412S..a much nicer guitar). The body is a bit uncomfortable, and even though the playability is easy, it is still very uncomfortable. Quite hard for barre chords, but quite alright for open chords. And whatever you do...don't attempt to solo on this; it's definitely NOT a solo guitar. You could hurt yourself doing this :-).

This is a GREAT starter guitar for any beginner, although still good for any moderate player. If you're serious about you music though, you would want to upgrade to something with a richer tone and better playability.
