B.C. Rich RJ Series Mockingbird Reviews 5

Bought it from a music store in Guelph, Ontario while visiting some friends for University. It was the last one in the store. Payed $700 Canadian.

A dream bass for the metal musician. Aside from its imposing look, it has that deep metal tone that sounds amazing while backing guitars. It stays in tune well, doesn't buzz when detuned, and has the lowest of low action. The hardware makes it easy for a variety of tones (has volume, bass, trebel and blend knobs with centre indents).

It is pretty heavy comparatively, but not as bad its reputation. Its weight causes it to neck dive more than most basses. The strap locks are in odd places, but it's still comfortable to wear on a strap.

Built like a truck! I swear to God I could club a moose to death with this thing. The BC Rich pick ups are great for that metal sound, and the bridge is easy to work with and adjust.

It's no wonder extreme metal bands like Death, Morbid Angel, and Slayer use such a brand instruments, because this bass is exactly what every metal bassist needs. It has deep tone for death, but enough high end for traditional or black. I think I'm in love!
