Gibson ES137C Reviews 4

I traded in my Ibanez AS80 on this one, because I was looking for a better sound; the AS80 with stock pickups was a little muddy. The Vintage Sunburst ES137C with subtle flame maple top and back caught my eye and I couldn't put it down. I paid the standard $1400 with case. (less my trade in), at a local music store in Ventura, CA. I was looking for a good deal on an ES335, but this will do for now.

I like the sound of both pickups; the neck pickup giving me the jazz sound I wanted, while the bridge pickup giving me close to my Les Paul. The pickups are very hot; maybe hotter than my 2002 Les Paul.

There is nothing I don't like about this one, although the large body size takes some getting used to.

I have not noticed any major quality problems except for a loose volume pot. and loose 1/4" jack.

This guitar plays and sounds great, I was looking for a 335, and I've never had one so I can't compare. So far this one fits the bill.
