Lace Gold Reviews  4 / 5 based on 1 reviewsI believe it used to be white when brand new. However, this Fender Lace Sensor Gold is pretty much aged. So, its color has turned into something closer to 'cream'. This pickup has the size of a standard single coil. Despite a few marks and very little dangs, the finish still is pretty intact when I can guarantee it has experienced abuse throughout the years.
I have been playing for 14 years. I am basically a home musician despite having played with a few bands in rehearsals. I love the sound of the nineties (Nevermind, Frogstomp, for instance). I am into rock n' roll and ballads. Ramones, Silverchair, Nirvana and the Beatles - very basically.
My present rig is: GFS Sweet Sparkle, GFS Greenie, SansAmp Classic, Boss GE-7, Fender Sidekick 100b, Fender Bassman Cabinet. I experimented the Lace Sensor Gold in the bridge position of a custom made stratocaster.
I traded in a GFS Mean 90 pickup into the Lace Sensor Gold.

Defined sound. Easy to identify the notes. No humming. I find it great for solos! Voice-like character; resembling the PAF Pro sound a little bit.
I find it too middy and sterile when compared to a Fender American Standard pickup. I couldn't connect to the instrument while playing the guitar with the Lace Sensor Gold installed. I do connect with the guitar when I play it with the Tex-Mex or the American Standard pickups installed. When I turned on the overdrive and played chords, the 'texture' of the sound resembled a passive EMG with the mid range increased.
It has been built to last. The pickup cover doesn't go off. Its looks is pleasant to my eyes. This pickup seems to be sturdy.
Good for lead, lame for rythm. Non-organic. It is a good pickup, but not for my sound. Diego Ambrósio rated this unit on 2011-08-20.
