Mesa Boogie V-Twin Pedal Reviews 4

I'm giving this all 10s, all the way across the board. This is one of the best distortion boxes ever produced. It is durable as all get-out, it sounds incredible, it looks like a work of rugged American art, and it is versatile. It's an investment even, as the discontinuation of it has caused it to rise in price. This pedal can make a boring one... [read more on Audiofanzine]

This pedal is a great addition to any person who needs a fat sounding distortion who uses maybe Fender amp or Vox or just about any clean based amp. If you need a beefy steroid pedal than this is your best bet. Another great thing about this pedal is the ability to use headphones or record out with it. SO you can send it to a recording conso... It's decent as a preamp pedal, but even better if treated as a tube overdrive pedal for high gain stuff. That's where I was really impressed, although the design may not have been intentionally made that way. That's how I used it and that's how I liked it. But as for what it was designed for, I guess it was decent. I would recommend it as an ove... [read more on Audiofanzine]

Bought this tube preamp with amazing tank-design at ebay for 260. Expexted a real ass-kicking distortion sound and a clean one thats ok.

Well, the design is incredible. not often that I've seen such a tough guitar preamp. ok, it's a mesa. really unbreakable The clean channel comes with a real warm, big and transparent tone. really fine, very much more than I expcted! blues channel sounds ok.

Distorion channel is not really great. these two tubes don't make the tone I talk about as a fat distortion. It sounds more like a tubeless boring distortion the kind you'll find in a zoom multieffectboard. This mode shouldn't work beneath the MESA letters. It's not worth it. Another not satisfying solution are the tone controls, that turn bas, mid, trb, gain & presence for all the channels. No way to set higher gain on the distortion than on the clean channel. that really sucks.

many connection possibilities, some really intelligent solutions. perfect quality.

Very good clean sounds, and really great design and quality. but that's not enough to say the v-twin pedal is a good preamp. there's no use for this distortion channel. going to sell it tomorrow. hope I'll find a cheap mesa quad to replace my pod. rated this unit 3 on 2004-04-25.
