Rapco i-Jam Reviews 4

Rapco Horizon put their heads together and came up with a handheld headphone amp that allows you to hear your instrument and an MP3 at the same time.

I was looking for something like this for awhile. It came out last year at NAMM 2011 and looked durable so I picked one up for $100.

It is built from a sturdy aluminum case. With only one knob it could not be a simpler item to use. The sound is clean and loud with plenty of headroom.

You do have to unscrew the side with a Phillips head screwdriver to access the battery compartment. I have been rocking this now for a few months and have not needed to change the battery, so no worries. Another thing is it it only a headphone amp. No additional on board effects or recording capabilities. Although I don't consider it primitive it is a basic headphone amp, nothing more nothing less.

It is built tough unlike a few other cheap headphone amps I have worked with. I like the aluminum chassis as well as the handy belt loop.

This never goes far from my desk. Perfect for sneaking in a late night practice session when volumes a problem. I plug my bass in, my MP3 player and send it out through my headphones.
