Taylor 814B Reviews 5

Purchased from Long and McQuade in Toronto Canada for $2500 USD(taxes in). I was on a quest to find the best sounding acoustic guitar for over two months. I shopped with a friend who would play the guitars that I was considering so I could get a listener's perspective as well. Auditioned over 80 guitars in the $2000 to $5000 range in the five major shops in the Toronto area. This particular Taylor was a limited edition with special grade Brazilian rosewood sides and back and an upgraded Engelmann spruce top. After playing it for about a half minute, I knew I had to own it.

Tonal balance, playing response, anywhere, up the neck or down, finger picking, power chords, or very aggressive strumming, this guitar just kicks. You hear everything! Unbelievable sustain that goes on, and on, and on... Dynamics and detailed sound of any playing technique are voiced perfectly. Oh, and by the way, it's beautiful and the the craftmanship is faultless. Factory setup was perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

What's not to like? Maybe if I could have got it as a gift? That would have been better.

Incredible construction and quality of materials and craftmanship. You have to see one of these Brazilian rosewood limited editions. I can't fault it.

This ones a keeper! Anyone I let play it wants it. This is a treat that I will enjoy forever.
